Cooper is working on behalf of the police, conducting this drugs bust using his reputation as an alibi to the sellers. He is working with the police in order to be released from custody. Cooper is driven by his desire to be relieved from custody but is filled with a level of paranoia as he fears his criminal peers may have discovered he is working for the police.
