Share | Award winning Australian Producer/Director is casting for NYU student short film (to be shot on color 16mm) to be shot 22, 23, 24 November. Please do not apply unless you can fully commit to these dates (or at least two of them). I will endeavor to work around the children scenes with school hours as much as possible.

Please also note, there is no pay. However the short will be submitted to all the major festivals and I am involved in some very large budget film and tv projects next year which are fully paid and for which I am also casting. All actors will receive a copy of the DVD, have on-set catering and be invited to the official cinema screening on 16 December.

Only serious and experienced actors need apply (SAG and non SAG). Of course the young children roles are of exception and the more natural the better as far as I am concerned. Please note, I am a very experienced producer, having worked alongside the likes of Cate Blanchett and having produced multi million dollar productions. This is my expansion into the film genre (from theatre and music), so I can assure you a completely professional environment/experience.

I require the following actors/actresses:

1 x dark headed boy who resembles a young Liza Minnelli in looks (and is the younger version of the main character who is already cast). This is a small but very demanding role and will require the child actor to incur some dramatized abuse (of course it will be done in a sensitive way and he will be looked after by a professional crew). All will be disclosed at the casting. The young boy's voice will narrate a large portion of the film. A separate voice may be cast to the actor if necessary. I am very experienced in working with children in the profession.
More in depth description of Young Liza:
Aged between 9-12. Slim build. Dark caramel colored skin. Hair dark brown/black. High round cheekbones (if possible). Mole on cheek in centre of cheekbone (again if possible, nut make-up can add this). Almond eyes hazel.

1 x other young boy aged between 9-12: Italian or Hispanic looking. This is a small role and requires a child who has a lovely smile, giggle and is very innocent looking. Preferably big eyes (any color).

1 x larger Italian/Greek woman playing a single mother. Must have an accent or be able to produce a convincing European accent. This character is very dominating. The role is short but demanding. Actor must feel comfortable with hitting (dramatized of course) her son in her scene.

An older caucasian couple - aged 55 plus (can be as old as 80). These are an odd couple who never leave there own apt but live their lives watching their neighbor through the peep hole of their front door. I am open to all shapes and sizes. The female is a nosy neighbor, very old fashioned and bland in style. Her husband is addicted to his couch and the television, a real slob of a character.
